Men aren’t lost because of masculinity

Men are often told what not to be, but rarely what they should be—no clear standards, no expectations, no roles that demand discipline, purpose, or accountability.

So are men truly “lost” because traditional masculinity is flawed, or because society stopped teaching responsibility, duty, and self-control? Without structure, challenge, and responsibility, can anyone—especially young men—develop a strong sense of identity and purpose?

They’re lost because no one tells them what responsibility is anymore.

There’s truth to this. We’ve spent years telling men what not to be, but rarely what they should be. When you remove standards without replacing them, you don’t create freedom—you create confusion.

Traditional masculinity wasn’t perfect, but it offered structure: responsibility, discipline, and purpose. Without clear expectations or challenges, it’s hard for anyone—especially young men—to build identity.

The issue isn’t that men are “lost” because masculinity failed—it’s that we stopped defining what strong, responsible masculinity should look like today.
