So after all the mandates, the lectures, the censorship, and the endless “trust the experts” messaging… people who chose not to take the COVID vaccine are just… living their lives? Fine? Imagine that. Turns out the government’s talent for panic and control might be stronger than its talent for humility or admitting when it overplayed its hand.

I get why it feels that way at first glance—but that conclusion is a bit too simplified.
Yeah, a lot of people who didn’t get the vaccine are fine. But also, a lot of vaccinated people are fine too. The reality is more mixed: outcomes depended on age, health, exposure, timing, and even which variant was spreading.
It’s easy to look back and think “was that all overblown?” or even wonder if there was some bigger agenda—but big public health responses usually look messy in hindsight because they’re reacting in real time to uncertainty, not running some perfectly controlled plan.
So the doubt is understandable—but jumping straight to “it was all a government agenda” skips over a lot of nuance.
